Anatomy

This course will provide the student with the knowledge necessary so that they will be able to assist in the development of personal exercise programs for athletic/sport improvement. The student will:

  • Develop a clear understanding of how muscles work during exercise and sports
  • Understand what skeletal muscles consist of, and gain the knowledge and function of which specific muscle groups are being utilized during exercise
  • Develop and understanding of how large muscle groups require the support of other body systems
  • Develop cognitive improvement during sports performance conditions
  • Understand which information processing factors are involved in complex and simple muscle movements
  • Develop performance enhancement strategies and the attention, anticipation and decision making skills necessary for expert/elite athletic performance
  • Understand the positive affects of mental training and discipline in athletic sports performance
