" Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2
PLHS faculty and association pastors decided that the 2011-2012 theme verse would be Romans 12:2. Central to this verse is God's call for all people's "renewal" and knowledge of "his good, pleasing, and perfect will." This renewal and following of God's will is nicely summarized by Jesus in the book of John. "This is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day.'" Romans 12:2, therefore, is a gospel verse which encourages God's children to believe in Jesus as the world's Savior. It is our hope that PLHS students, families, staff, community and congregations may know this good God and look to Him for all blessings.. To God alone be glory, and to us be His blessings and grace.

Pacific Lutheran High School is one of approximately 100 Lutheran high schools belonging to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). This conservative Lutheran Church body has approximately 2.5 million members throughout the United States, and was founded in Missouri 150 years ago. The LCMS believes the Bible to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God. As the Bible teaches "Faith comes by hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17), the most important work done at Pacific Lutheran High School is sharing the good news of Christ's victory over sin, death, and the power of the devil. This focus permeates the academic curriculum, athletics, field trips, etc. at Pacific Lutheran High School. "For in him we live and move and have our being." (Acts 17:28)
Students are required to take theology classes all four years. Generally freshman will take Old Testament and Catechism-type classes introducing basic biblical concepts. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors learn Church History, Doctrine, Apologetics, and generally have a comprehensive study of various Bible books throughout the year.
Students from a wide array of Christian backgrounds are welcome at Pacific Lutheran High School. While theology classes are naturally taught from a Lutheran Christian perspective, there is ample opportunity to express divergent opinions on theological issues. One of the strengths of the school is the freedom and openness in discussing Jesus Christ and His Word. What a wonderful message the school has in telling others of the hope and peace that has been won through "The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." (John 1:29).
