With broad brush strokes this course will introduce students to the major historical civilizations and characters of west and east that still influence them to this day.

Civilizations introduced include Sumerian, Babylonian, Phoenician, Jewish, Assyrian, Persian, Egyptian, Indus, Aryan, Chinese, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Frankish, Viking, medieval feudal European, renaissance European, Mongolian, Japanese, and Khmer among others.

The art, religions, social structures, and technical advancements of the civilizations will be touched on.

Connections with the Bible’s accounts of historical studied will be made and the religions and philosophies encountered will be contrasted with the teachings of the Bible.
